Michael Agustin
CEO, Software Architect (Co-founder)
Michael Agustin co-founded Gendai Games with the intention of making media creation a lifestyle accessible to everyone, not simply a tool for the technically literate. In a previous life, Michael designed tools and artificial intelligence (AI) at Edge of Reality for console games such as Pitfall: The Lost Expedition and Sharktale. He was also part of Apple’s Platform Experience Group assigned to work on the MacOS X operating system. Most recently, he was a designer and programmer at Three Rings for the online game Bang! Howdy.
Michael earned a master’s degree in entertainment technology from Carnegie Mellon University where his primary research was focused on the rapid ideation and prototyping of games. He received his bachelor’s in computer science, with a minor in business, from The University of Texas at Austin. Michael also serves on the faculty of The University of Texas.
Tan Tran
Director of Web Development (Co-founder)
Tan Tran, co-founder of Gendai Games, has been hard at work trying to make life easier. He was the leading developer of web applications that have helped to revolutionized the way most people use the internet. Most recently, Tan was a senior web developer and a team-leader with Hotels.com, a leading online travel site. While at Hotels.com, he lead the development of the company’s back and front end web-systems, helping Hotels.com become a leader in the travel industry. Prior to Hotels.com, Tan developed the online bill payment system at FundsXpress, a pioneer in the on-line banking and bill-pay fields. Tan was also able to hone his business and entrepreneurial skills as the founder of a web design and consulting startup, Angel Concepts. While there, Tan was responsible for the business development and project management of the firm’s services.
Tan holds a bachelor’s of science in computer science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Daniel Treiman
Director of Application Development (Co-founder)
As a co-founder of Gendai Games and an innovator in the software development field, Daniel has helped to take the company to the next level. Prior to co-founding Gendai Games, Daniel was a software engineer at Epic Systems, a software company focused on developing and supporting integrated, patient-centric applications for 175 of the largest and most respected healthcare agencies in the world. Before that, he worked within Rice University’s ground breaking Human-Computer Interaction Lab, a study designed to better understand interactions between humans and other elements of a system in order to optimize human well-being. While at Rice, Daniel developed scientific software for the program’s MacOS X operating system.
Dan received his bachelor’s of science, with honors, in computer science from Gustavus Adolphus College.
Eric Moujaes
Business Development Manager
Eric has specific experience in operational management and supervising production of television, film and web animation, online and console based game development, and original content development and marketing. Eric brings his international co-production and offshoring programs negotiation expertise to help expand Gendai Games marketing and business development efforts.
Prior to teaming up with Gendai, Eric was Vice President of Boomstar, Inc. – an international animation production company where he was Supervising Producer on 4Kids Entertainment’s upcoming Rocket Monkeys series. He also has managed project operations for clients such as Zynga, Forterra Systems, Sony Online Entertainment, Digital Playspace and Say Design.
Eric earned his bachelor’s of arts in Philosophy from The University of Texas at Austin.
Nestor Hernandez
Director of Developer Relations
Nestor Hernandez is truly a man of many talents. He brings broad expertise in game design, product development, marketing, publishing and management to the Gendai Games team. Over his seven years in the video game industry, Nestor has been involved in nearly all aspects of game development for major game genres and platforms including the Mac, PC, console, as well as the iPhone. Prior to joining Gendai Games, Nestor contributed to the successful completion of over 100 published titles at Aspyr Media in a variety of positions, including lead designer. While a producer at Super Happy Fun Fun, Nestor managed the simultaneous development of multiple AAA licenses from clients such as Jakks Pacific and Disney.
Nestor earned his bachelor’s of science in radio, television and film with a focus in convergent media from The University of Texas at Austin.
Jonathan Samn
Quality Assurance Lead
Jonathan Samn hasn’t always worked for the underdog. Jonathan joins Gendai Games from technology giant, IBM. At IBM Global Services, he developed Java software products, user guides and technical documentation for thousands of corporate customers. He also tested, evaluated and integrated dozens of internal and third-party products for the company’s resource management software. Just before his time at IBM, Jonathan worked as a researcher for the United States Air Force’s Office of Scientific Research where he developed code and researched electromagnetic propagation.
Jonathan received his master’s degree in software engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Jonathan also has a bachelor’s of science in electrical engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
Conor Brace
Community Manager
A lifelong Austinite, Conor Brace is one of those creative types who can design a game, compose a soundtrack, cut a trailer, build a website, and then leave his keys in the office on the way out. During his undergraduate years, Conor managed an online community and retail shop based around a trading card game. More recently, he has worked as a freelance music composer and sound designer for film and games. Conor’s wide-ranging experience as a creative entrepreneur allows him to connect well with the GameSalad audience, which he believes is crucial for success in his role of Community Manager.
Conor holds a bachelor’s of music, with honors, in jazz composition and a bachelor’s of arts, with honors, in Plan II from the University of Texas at Austin. At this writing he is finishing up his thesis work for a master’s of music composition, also from the University of Texas at Austin.
