Cutting-edge Gendai Games Selected to Join Austin Technology Incubator

Austin, TX August 7, 2009 – Austin-based Gendai Games, developers of game creation technologies enabled by the social web, has joined the Austin Technology Incubator (ATI), a program of the IC2 Institute at the University of Texas.

Gendai Games is launching into the market with GameSalad, a social utility that allows its members to connect, collaborate and create unique games without programming knowledge. The company has recently published its first user-created game to the iPhone App Store, Flutterby, utilizing its intuitive game design platform, GameSalad Creator.

“We are excited to join the long list of cutting-edge ATI member companies,” said Michael Agustin, CEO of Gendai Games. “We’re working to innovate with GameSalad and enable gamers to collaborate, easily create and even market their own games.”

GameSalad is a paradigm shift in the gaming community.  GameSalad.com, an online community, supports amateur and professional game developers by allowing them to connect, gather resources, exchange ideas, buy and sell game artwork, post their portfolio, play member created games and connect games to social networking platforms.

Members can also create their own unique games using GameSalad Creator, an intuitive design platform that allows non-programmers to design original, sophisticated games. Through a user-friendly interface, game designers can access complex algorithms necessary for implementing professional-level artificial intelligence and game play, without programming knowledge.

Through Gendai Games’ proprietary technology, GameSalad members can easily create unique and powerful games and publish them to multiple platforms, including the iPhone, other Internet enabled devices and social media sites. In May, the company published its first user generated game to the iPhone App Store, Flutterby.

“We’re thrilled to have Gendai join the incubator. They have created a significant community of members online and offer a unique tool for game creation. We see a great deal of potential for the company,” said Bart Bohn, director, ATI IT and wireless.

ATI was founded to harnesses local business, government and academic resources to provide strategic council, operational guidance, and infrastructure support to member companies. The program is designed to help Gendai Games make the leap from innovative start-up to successful business. Through ATI, Gendai Games will be provided with a solid network of professional service providers, potential investors, institutional and academic mentorship and access to other funding programs from government as well as private sources to further develop their product and their company.
